The Almacén del Hacha occupies a corner in Montevideo's Ciudad Vieja where the streets of Buenos Aires and Maciel intersect. Recognizable by its historic facade and traditional signage, this building has stood in various forms for over two hundred years. While its exact construction date remains unrecorded, it is widely cited as the oldest bar in the city. Its interior features vaulted ceilings built with heavy, four-kilogram Spanish bricks and original timber beams.
