Sea World is recognizable by its expansive, sprawling layout along the Gold Coast Broadwater, which combines large open-air animal enclosures with tall, winding roller coasters that rise against the backdrop of the Pacific coastline. What began in nineteen fifty-eight as the Surfers Paradise Ski Gardens, a local venue for water skiing stunts and aquatic ballet, moved to this site at the Spit in nineteen seventy-one.
