The Southport Bathing Pavilion is a single-story building on Marine Parade, identifiable by its Spanish Mission architectural style. Built in nineteen thirty-four, it once served the day-trippers who arrived at the nearby railway terminus to swim in the Broadwater. At the time of its construction, the pavilion provided essential changing rooms, showers, and toilets for the growing numbers of beachgoers who visited the area as seaside holidays became a common leisure activity for the Australian public.
