The Minnewater is a wide, still basin of water at the southern edge of the city, marked by the presence of white swans and a stone bridge that spans its northern end. Known in English as the Lake of Love, it is a reservoir that once acted as a vital part of the medieval canal network. Ships from distant lands once docked here to unload wool, wine, and spices, using this basin to manage the flow of water into the city’s trade arteries.
