Mikkeller & Friends on Stefansgade stands out for its turquoise floors and walls, a deliberate departure from the dim, wood-paneled interiors of traditional local pubs. This beer hall, which opened in March two thousand thirteen, was a collaboration between the craft brewery Mikkeller and the brewery To Øl. The connection began years earlier in a high school kitchen, where Mikkel Borg Bjergsø, a math and physics teacher, taught two of his students, Tore Gynther and Tobias Emil Jensen, how to brew beer.
