KV62, the tomb of the pharaoh Tutankhamun, is distinguished by a sixteen-step stone staircase that descends into the bedrock of the Valley of the Kings. Unlike the sprawling, elaborate complexes nearby, this site consists of only four small rooms—an antechamber, an annex, a treasury, and a burial chamber—all tucked beneath the rubble of ancient workers' huts.
