Kalikambal Kamadeswarar Temple

The Kalikambal Kamadeswarar Temple on Thambu Chetty Street is distinguished by its rajagopuram, a towering gateway entrance that rises above the surrounding commercial storefronts in the George Town neighborhood. Originally founded closer to the seashore, the temple was moved to this site in sixteen forty to make way for the construction of Fort Saint George by the British East India Company.
