Old Tōkaidō Road Ancient Cedar Avenue - East End

You are approaching a stretch of road defined by hundreds of towering cedar trees that stand in two thick rows, blocking out much of the sunlight even at midday. This five-hundred-meter path, known as the Old Tōkaidō Road Ancient Cedar Avenue, is a surviving fragment of the main highway that connected the imperial city of Kyoto with Edo, the political capital of the Tokugawa Shogunate.
