The main shrine buildings of Hakone Shrine reveal themselves through a dense, ancient cedar forest, their vibrant red wood offering a sharp contrast to the deep green trees. These structures stand at the top of a long stone staircase that begins at the edge of Lake Ashi, where a large, bright red torii gate rises directly from the water.
