Fushimi Inari Shrine Tower Gate

The Romon Gate at Fushimi Inari Taisha is a two-storied structure painted in a striking, vibrant vermillion. As the main entrance to the shrine, it serves as the primary transition point into the sacred grounds. Standing as the largest and oldest of its kind in Kyoto, the gate features a distinct hip-and-gable roof covered in cypress bark. Flanking the entrance are two life-sized statues of armored deities, known as zuishin, which act as protective guardians.
