Unsodo Corporation is a publisher of art books and woodblock prints that has operated in Kyoto since eighteen ninety-one. The company name was chosen by the literati painter Tomioka Tessai, and it honors the herb rue, which was traditionally placed between pages to protect books from pests. It is known today as the only publisher in Japan that continues to produce hand-printed, woodblock-bound books using traditional techniques.
