The Church of Our Lady of Liesse stands at the waterfront of the Grand Harbor, distinguished by its baroque dome and belfry designed by the Maltese architect Francesco Zammit. Originally built in sixteen twenty at the expense of Fra Giacomo Chenn de Bellay, the church was reconstructed in seventeen forty by the Langue of France, the most influential division of the Order of the Knights of Saint John.
