Manuha Temple

The Manuha Temple is a rectangular, two-story structure in Myinkaba that holds four colossal Buddha images. These statues are packed into spaces so tight that they appear to press against the walls and ceilings. Three massive seated figures occupy the front, while a ninety-foot reclining Buddha lies at the back. This cramped interior is the building's defining feature, reportedly designed by King Manuha to represent the physical and mental confinement he suffered after being captured by King Anawrahta in ten fifty-seven.
