Nan Hpaya Temple

Nan Hpaya Temple stands apart in the landscape of Bagan as a rare stone structure in a region defined primarily by brick. Its outer walls are clad in sandstone, an architectural choice that marks it as one of only four such monuments in the area. The temple is square in plan, with a porch projecting from its eastern face, and its interior is famously illuminated by delicate, perforated stone windows that filter light into the central chamber.
