Munkebotn

other

Munkebotn is a narrow, steep-sided valley tucked between the mountains Sandviksfjellet and Eidsvågfjellet. The area takes its name from the Dominican brethren who held property and milling rights here during the Late Middle Ages. These monks maintained grazing land in the valley and around the lake known as Munkebotnsvatnet, which once powered mills along the riverbed.
