Wansong Academy is marked by three stone archways arranged in a character shape at its entrance, representing the different names it held over its history. First established in fourteen ninety-eight during the Ming Dynasty, this site on the slopes of Phoenix Mountain functioned as the premier institution for scholars in Zhejiang for centuries. It was here that influential thinkers like the philosopher Wang Yangming once lectured to students.
