The City God Pavilion stands forty-one point six meters tall on the peak of Wushan Hill, topped by a central cucurbit-shaped roof and four smaller eaves sculpted to resemble soaring phoenixes. Completed in the year two thousand, this seven-story structure blends architectural elements of the Southern Song and Yuan dynasties to honor the history of Hangzhou. It holds a position among the four recognized great pavilions in the region south of the Yangtze River.
