Former Residence of Hu Xueyan

The Former Residence of Hu Xueyan is marked by its elaborate layout of winding corridors and pavilions, hidden behind a modest entrance on Yuanbao Street. Built in eighteen seventy-five, the mansion spans over five thousand square meters and stands as a primary example of late Qing Dynasty merchant architecture. It is distinguished by the integration of traditional Chinese design with rare materials like golden-thread nanmu and rosewood, alongside imported Western features such as stained-glass windows and large British mirrors.
