The Majestic Café on Rua de Santa Catarina is marked by a distinctive marble facade adorned with carved vegetal elements and sinuous lines, featuring a doorway flanked by two stone statues of children. Designed by architect João Queirós and opened in December nineteen twenty-one, the building represents the Art Nouveau style in Porto. It originally operated under the name Elite Café, a moniker that quickly shifted to Majestic to better capture the sophisticated Belle Époque spirit that local intellectuals and the social elite demanded during the nineteen twenties.
