The Diriyah Historic Wall is a massive fortification built of mud brick that snakes along the edges of the Wadi Hanifa valley. Standing between four and six and a half meters high, the structure is punctuated by dozens of defensive towers that once watched over the capital of the First Saudi State. These walls were expanded significantly in seventeen fifty-nine under the direction of Imam Muhammad bin Saud to protect the growing political and religious center from external threats.
