Kadikoy Bull Statue

The bronze bull statue at the Altıyol intersection is a life-sized sculpture of a charging animal that has become the neighborhood’s most familiar landmark. Created in Paris by the French sculptor Isidore Bonheur in eighteen sixty-four, the statue was originally meant to represent French strength and dominance. Following the Franco-Prussian War, it was seized by the Germans, and later, during the First World War, the German Emperor Wilhelm the Second gifted it to the Ottoman general Enver Pasha.
