The Ayazma Mosque occupies a hillside in Üsküdar, its silhouette rising against the Bosphorus skyline. Commissioned by Sultan Mustafa the Third and completed in seventeen sixty-one, the structure represents a significant shift toward the Ottoman Baroque style. Its name comes from the Greek word for holy spring, reflecting a long history of water sources at this site, which was once occupied by an imperial palace garden.
