The Chelsea Arts Club is a private clubhouse at one hundred forty-three Old Church Street, recognizable by its exterior walls which are often painted in bright, changing colors by local artists. It was established on November fifteen, eighteen ninety, at the instigation of the painter James Abbott McNeill Whistler, who wanted to create a bohemian rival to the older Arts Club in Mayfair.
