Trinity Hospital is the oldest surviving building in Greenwich, distinguished by a cream-colored, castellated facade that stands in sharp contrast to the massive, industrial brickwork of the nearby power station. Founded in sixteen thirteen by Henry Howard, Earl of Northampton, this group of almshouses was built to provide shelter for twenty residents of Greenwich and the Earl's birthplace in Norfolk. The architecture features a central clock tower and a cloistered inner courtyard, giving the site a quiet, monastic atmosphere that has persisted for over four centuries.
