Number six Denmark Street is a rare survivor of the late seventeenth-century terraced houses built between sixteen eighty-six and sixteen ninety-one. This building stands out for its deep connection to the mid-nineteen seventies, when it became a base for the Sex Pistols. While the street as a whole earned the nickname Tin Pan Alley for its dense concentration of music publishers and recording studios, this specific property served as a lived-in workshop for the band.
