The Main Building at Sacred Heart Schools, Atherton, is recognizable by its graceful mansard roof and central bell tower. This structure, the first built on the sixty-three-acre campus, was designed by the Irish-immigrant architect Charles Devlin and opened its doors in eighteen ninety-eight. It remains the architectural centerpiece of the grounds, having withstood both the nineteen oh six and nineteen eighty-nine earthquakes.
