Holy Cross Cemetery is marked by an ivy-draped chain link fence and gnarled oak trees that obscure the grounds from Santa Cruz Avenue. This seven-acre site has hosted burials since the late eighteen sixties, initially serving as a nonsectarian graveyard before the Church of the Nativity of Our Lord acquired and consecrated the land in eighteen eighty-three.
