The Barron-Latham-Hopkins Gatehouse, located on Ravenswood Avenue, is identifiable as a modest, historic structure that sits near the entrance to what were once sprawling local estates. Built in eighteen sixty-four, it is the oldest existing building in Menlo Park and the last surviving gatehouse in California. It once guarded the entrance to a two hundred eighty-acre property that featured a massive forty-room mansion, gardens, and fountains.
