Menlo Park station

The Menlo Park station on Merrill Street is easily identified by its Victorian ornamentation and gingerbread-style wood trim. Constructed in eighteen sixty-seven by the San Francisco and San Jose Railroad Company, it holds the distinction of being the oldest passenger station in California. While it began as a simple structure, the building gained its decorative details during the eighteen nineties to appeal to visitors and students arriving for the newly established Stanford University.
