Santa Barbara Harbor is defined by its long, curved breakwater constructed of stone brought from Santa Cruz Island. This breakwater was completed in nineteen twenty-nine after years of local efforts to create a permanent shelter for vessels along a coastline that previously offered no protection from winter storms.
