Santa Barbara Maritime Museum

The Santa Barbara Maritime Museum occupies a building at one hundred thirteen Harbor Way that was originally constructed in nineteen forty-three as a Naval Reserve Armory. Built by the federal government’s Works Progress Administration, the structure sits directly on the harbor waterfront. During the Second World War, the site supported the Navy through the development of the adjacent Navy Pier and a degaussing range used to protect ships from magnetic mines.
