The Hotel Colonnade is marked by a crown-shaped cupola that sits atop a neoclassical structure on Miracle Mile. Completed in November nineteen twenty-six, it was designed by architect Phineas Paist to serve as the original sales center for George Merrick’s planned community of Coral Gables. The building was meant to display the lavishness of the project, featuring forty offices for salesmen who promoted the city to potential buyers.
