Queen’s Surf Beach takes its name from the beach house and private pier once maintained here by Queen Liliʻuokalani, the last reigning monarch of Hawaii. She often visited this coastal stretch, which she once described as a health-giving district with a peculiar and life-giving atmosphere. After her time, the property saw a different life as a seaside mansion, later hosting military leaders like Admiral Nimitz and General Douglas MacArthur during the second world war.
