The Tufts Memorial Steps are a grand, wide staircase rising up a steep slope between Miner and Paige Halls. Designed in the nineteen twenties by the firm founded by Frederick Law Olmsted, the steps were built to connect College Avenue to the university’s upper campus. They function as a tribute to Tufts alumni who served in the armed forces, with granite plaques commemorating those lost in conflicts from the Civil War to the present day.
