The Somerville Theatre is defined by a marquee framed by owls and topped with lion heads, sitting on the corner of the Hobbs Building in Davis Square. Built in nineteen fourteen by Joseph Hobbs, the theatre was designed by the firm Funk and Wilcox to host the era’s diverse entertainment, including vaudeville, opera, and motion pictures. It stands as one of the oldest continuously operating theaters in the country.
