The Lake Union Drydock Company sits along the eastern shore of the lake, identifiable by its sprawling twelve-acre shipyard and the collection of wooden sheds that line the water. Founded in nineteen nineteen by Otis Cutting and John McLean, it arrived just after the completion of the Lake Washington Ship Canal, which linked the lake to Puget Sound.
