The Victoria Falls Hotel

The Victoria Falls Hotel is marked by its sprawling, Edwardian-style architecture and broad verandas that overlook the Zambezi Gorge. Opened in nineteen oh four, the building was originally a temporary site for the railway employees constructing the Victoria Falls Bridge. These workers were part of the ambitious Cape-to-Cairo railway project, a vision to link the African continent by rail. Though it was intended to be pulled down once the bridge was finished, the structure proved far more enduring.
