King’s Gate

The King’s Gate is the ceremonial entrance to the Suomenlinna fortress, identified by its two-story concave facade and the rusticated gate framed in marble. Built between seventeen fifty-three and seventeen fifty-four, it stands at the southern tip of the fortress where King Adolf Frederick of Sweden anchored his ship during a seventeen fifty-two inspection of the construction.
