Piperin puisto

Piperin puisto is a historic landscape park on the island of Susisaari within the Suomenlinna sea fortress. You can identify the site by the stark contrast between its greenery and the surrounding massive, grey stone fortress walls that enclose it. Established around the turn of the seventeen-eighties, the park was designed to soften the rigid, military character of the fortifications. It features a central pond, known locally as the Pond of Love, and is bounded by leafy sycamore zones that define its sheltered interior.
