The Annecy City Hall is recognizable by its symmetrical Neoclassical façade, which features a central tetrastyle Ionic portico topped by a pedimented clock. Completed in eighteen fifty-one, the building stands on the Esplanade de l’Hôtel de Ville and was constructed during the period when the city was part of the Kingdom of Sardinia. Architect François Justin designed the structure using ashlar stone to accommodate the city’s growing administrative needs, replacing an older town hall that had become too small.
