Rue du Pâquier is a street defined by its direct connection to the expansive green esplanade known as Le Pâquier, the heart of public life in Annecy. While the modern street is characterized by a dense row of historic, multi-story buildings housing shops and restaurants, its name originates from the medieval period. At that time, this land served as communal pasture for the town’s cattle, a function reflected in the local Savoyard Arpitan word for pasture, "pâquier."
