Marcel Proust is buried in Division 85 of Père Lachaise Cemetery. His grave is marked by a simple black marble stone that is frequently visited by readers who leave small tokens, such as madeleine cakes or tea cups, in reference to the most famous scene from his seven-volume novel, In Search of Lost Time.
