The Square Sergent Aurélie Salel is defined by six ventilation chimneys that rise from the ground, remnants of the tunnel system built for the Petite Ceinture railway. Created in nineteen thirty-eight, this space occupies a slab constructed directly over the old rail line, which once ran as an open-air trench between the Charonne and Sorbier tunnels.
