Pont Jacques Chaban Delmas

landmark

The Pont Jacques Chaban-Delmas is defined by four massive steel pylons that reach seventy-seven meters into the sky, framing the Garonne River. Spanning five hundred seventy-five meters in total, it is the tallest vertical-lift bridge in Europe. Unlike traditional drawbridges that swing open, this structure keeps its central deck perfectly horizontal, elevating the entire one hundred seventeen-meter section like a giant elevator to let maritime traffic pass through to the Port of the Moon.
