Darwin Eco-système is defined by its long, low-slung, red-brick barracks draped in sprawling, ever-changing street art murals. Situated along the Garonne River, this former military compound once operated as the Niel barracks, built starting in eighteen seventy-four to house the city's logistics units. For over a century, the site remained closed to the public, a strictly disciplined space for soldiers and horses. When the army departed in two thousand five, the buildings sat abandoned and silent for years.
