The CAPC musée d’art contemporain de Bordeaux occupies the Entrepôt Lainé, a massive, heritage-listed warehouse built in eighteen twenty-four. You can identify the structure by its heavy, industrial scale and the two grand naves that run through its interior, which were designed in a style inspired by Roman basilicas. The building was originally constructed by the architect Claude Deschamps—who also built the city's stone bridge—to store colonial goods like sugar, coffee, and cotton before they were shipped to northern Europe.
