Galerie Bordelaise

other

The Galerie Bordelaise is recognizable by its intricate wrought-iron gates and marble columns that mark its entrances. This historic shopping arcade, designed by architect Gabriel-Joseph Durand, opened in April eighteen thirty-four. It cuts a unique diagonal path through the city block, connecting four busy streets in the historic center. The interior is defined by a high glass canopy that floods the passage with natural light, illuminating facades decorated with classical carvings, including symbols of abundance like cornucopias.
