Opéra National de Bordeaux - Grand-Théâtre

cultural

The Grand-Théâtre is marked by a neoclassical portico of twelve colossal Corinthian columns, each topped by a stone statue representing a muse or goddess. Inaugurated in seventeen eighty, this opera house was designed by the architect Victor Louis as a temple to the arts, standing on the site of an ancient Gallo-Roman forum. Its wooden interior structure provides acoustics that have sustained its reputation as one of the finest theaters in the world for over two centuries.
