The Musée du Vin et du Négoce de Bordeaux occupies an eighteen-century stone merchant house that is easily identified by its imposing facade at number forty-one Rue Borie. This building once served as the home and headquarters for the royal broker of King Louis the Fifteenth, an Irish merchant named Francis Burke. Its history as a hub for the wine trade remains visible in the semi-subterranean vaulted cellars and the former cooperage, which now houses the museum shop.
