The Church of Saint-Louis-des-Chartrons is defined by two fifty-eight-meter-high spires that rise above the surrounding neighborhood skyline. This neo-Gothic building was constructed between eighteen seventy-four and eighteen eighty, according to the designs of the Bordeaux architect Pierre-Charles Brun. It stands on the former site of a seventeenth-century chapel that belonged to the Discalced Carmelites, a religious order brought to the city by Cardinal François de Sourdis in sixteen twenty-six.
